Co-Founder

Val spent eight years at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), advising clients across the energy and industrial sectors in North America. At BCG, he led projects in corporate strategy, operational improvement, and market analysis involving refining, renewable fuels and petrochemicals. He also led BCG’s global refinery margin and price forecasting.

Before joining BCG, Val spent three years at IHS Markit, where he developed forecasts for crude oil and refined-product supply and demand across North America and Latin America. His work also included market studies covering product flows, pricing, and regulatory markets.

Val holds a master’s in international economics from Johns Hopkins and a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. Val began his BCG career in Houston and is now based in the Washington, DC area.

Colton spent four years at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), advising clients across the energy industry in the US and Australia. At BCG, he led projects in strategy, operational improvement, commercial due diligence, and market analysis across the refining, LNG, upstream, and petrochemical sectors.

Before joining BCG, Colton spent five years at ExxonMobil’s Baytown Complex, where he combined hands-on experience in refinery operations, process engineering, and production optimization with financial analysis, global downstream strategy, and corporate planning.

Colton holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Auburn University. A Houston native, he began his career there before moving to Denver, Colorado, where he now lives.
